After five years of filling up the monumental Kronenburgerpark in the city of Nijmegen with almost 150 different Jazz, Funk & Soul acts, it’s time to take the Otis Park Festival to the beach. What better place than the magical and just as monumental Woodstock’69.

We are honored to invite you to Otis’69 on the 3rd of September for a day of fine groovy music together with some of Otis his favorite acts. Our guest will be the talented young Gijs Idema Trio, The raw instrumental adventures of Tommy Moustache and the funky traveling circus that is Power to the Pipo. We will end the day under the guidance of the Wicked Jazz Sounds collective, known for their weekly club night at the Amsterdam Sugarfactory. Dance with a Smile!

Gijs Idema Trio
The Gijs Idema Trio is rooted in the jazz tradition but also covers more modern grounds. They take the listeners attention with their flawless interaction where all three band member are equally as
important. The trio plays a lot of own compositions, but also pieces by composers like Thelonious Monk and Joe Henderson are in the repertoire. They are known for having their own specific sound,
which can be described as dynamic, transparent and lyrical. The Gijs Idema Trio won the first prize at the Prinses Christina Jazz Concours (2014) and the first prize at the Leidse Jazz Award (2016)

Tommy Moustache
Idiosyncratic, Rotterdam-based band Tommy Moustache released their debut album in late 2014, challenging critics to define their ineffable brand of raw, instrumental jazz. After bedazzling the
stages of reputable Dutch festivals like the North Sea Jazz festival, Jazzfest, Jazz International and being voted audience choice in the 2016 edition of the Dutch Jazz Competition they have come up
with a new masterpiece: “EGO”, full of daring improvisation, rock riffs, humor, mood swings, rhythmic and melodic adventures and everything else these four men, supporting appropriate facial
hair could come up with.

Power to the Pipo
This band travels the country bringing their groove and no nonsense explosive improvisations. They are known to tear the house down and build it up again. Power to the Pipo has been a regular guest at all the Otis events and has yet to leave the first soul untouched.

Wicked Jazz Sounds
A family of music lovers; musicians and DJs who do what they love with heart and soul, living with music and making that music. They look to music in the widest way possible. They see jazz as a genre
where a lot of other music came from. That is why they also consider funk, soul, hip-hop, disco, drum&bass, latin and even house as their musical base. They get their inspiration from the newest dance floor killers and music from the old heroes.
The family feeling is that people who love Wicked Jazz Sounds can not be placed in one subculture. Alternative or hip, white or brown, if you leave your attitude behind and dance with a smile you
belong to the Wicked Jazz Sounds family.
Wicked Jazz Sounds will continue with her successful club nights in the Amsterdam Sugar Factory. The growing collective of DJs and musicians can be seen at (inter-)national leading festivals and
stages more often.
