Nordic Delight brings quality and upcoming artists from the Nordic countries to the Netherlands. This evening we present three top of the bill electronic artists from Denmark: Bottled in England, Sekuoia and Den Sorte Skole. These talented and emerging artists from Copenhagen are well known for their great live performances, so this promises to become an exciting night, with energetic live music combined with spectacular visuals.
Have you ever felt like music sometimes imitates nature? It’s that strange sensation, almost dreamlike, weightless that’s invoked by the delicate electronic music of 21-year-old Danish producer Sekuoia a.k.a. Patrick Alexander Bech Madsen from Copenhagen. Sekuoia combines the organic with the electronic in a dreamy meltdown. Dry beats, synth washes and copy/pasted vocals conjure echoes of both dubstep and atmospheric ambient. Music that effortlessly bridges ambient, hip hop and electronica. Performing at many festivals all over Europe in summer and fall 2014, Sekuoia is ready for international take-off.
Den Sorte Skole is a Copenhagen based DJ, producer and composer collective founded by Simon Dokkedal and Martin Fernando Jakobsen in 2003. These masters of mixing are acclaimed for their extraordinary talented turntablism. By sampling music from all across the world and genres as diverse as folk, psych rock, early electronic music, reggae, classical and all kinds of field recordings, they take the listener on a truly unique journey through musical history and beyond. Through the years they came to be known as a band that teared off the roof and left concert arenas behind in flames. The sound is original, massive and highly enchanting.
In a thunderstorm of face lashing beats, grooving bass and euphoric soundscapes, Bottled in England display their unique take on modern electronic music. Their highly energetic show performed with live instruments is delivered with an eminent organic elegance by brutally reckless drummer August Dyrborg and dramatic theatrical bass player Daniel Vognstrup. They combine cinematic greatness with a unique form of minimalistic German techno-equilibrium; creating an explosive cocktail. After many clubshows and festivals, including a long tour in China, they released their long awaited debut album ‘BOY / LOST’ in August 2014.
