Please allow me to share how I met Dennis. The setting was the Dancefair music convention in Utrecht; I was representing Defected Records and my own now defunct label, Hardsoul Pressings at a panel. Every demo was a copycat of the EDM sound which was huge back then (think Hardwell and Nicky Romero). The complete absence of anything reminiscent of house music cast a dark shadow over me. But wait! The shadow was real, and moving closer. It was not caused by the lack of house music, but by the presence of a giant: enter Dennis Quin. In all fairness I have to admit I was a bit prejudiced by his look, which suggested trance or progressive music. The reality was different, however: he was making Latin house, and the demos he handed to me were nothing special. But witnessing that spark, that hunger in his eyes, encouraged me to sign him to Hardsoul Publishing and commence his ‘training drills’. Mister Miyagi had nothing on me (NO! AGAIN!). He hated me for it, and then I pushed him some more. I knew he had the innate talent to succeed. We worked and worked and worked for three years straight. Then, about a year ago it started - he released his debut tracks. People started to sit up and take notice. And here we are; a solo album in 2016 on one of the hottest UK labels. Ladies and gentlemen, take my proud word for it: this is only the beginning for this motivated and talented artist.
So, if Dennis Quin's album debut at Hearts of oaK is not adequate reason for a celebration, we have another surprise. We have invited Man Without A Clue, and contrary to what his name suggests, this guy does know what he is doing. Churning out fat tracks on the hottest labels such as Defected Records, Dopewax Records and Simma Black of course, he is much in demand as a DJ, now enjoying bookings in the globe's hottest clubs.
Come to oaK in Amsterdam on Friday and show some love for our DJs and the true original house sounds. See you there!
