- Bericht 1
Fredy Massamba is a singer and dancer from Congo Brazzaville, currently based in Belgium. Deeply grounded in his Central African roots, his music is a smooth blend of soul, hiphop and funk.
It did not take long before music became his tool as a true passion ! For a while he had been singing and dancing down the street or in some choirs. Then he turned into a génuine stage performer. Following several world tours with « Les Tambours de Brazza », numerous collaborations with Zap Mama, Didier Awadi, Manou Gallo and after he enjoyed some smashing encounters in USA with Bilal, Mos Def and The Roots. With his debut album ‘Ethnophony’ he has definitely established himself as an artist.
Now he’s back with a new project called ‘Makasi’, wich means ‘strength’ in Lingala. Yet again produced by Frd Hirschy, the album is mixed by Russell ‘The Dragon’ Elevado (D’Angelo, The Roots, Erykah Badu…), who brought a powerful African-American sound to it.
With that said, it’s time for a release tour throughout Europe, so be sure to check him out at Sugarfactory!
