Flying Circus started, as most good things do: accidentally. An opportunity to throw a classic event popped up for the guys from Audiofly. This in turn gave them the opportunity to invite all their friends, to play together…to be inspired by each other and to just get a little “hang time”. By now the concept is traveling around the world, inviting friends such as Art Department, Davide Squillace, Jamie Jones, Nina Kraviz and many many more.
The first headliner of the night is, of course, Audiofly! Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton first met and started working together in the spring of 2002. Immediately a prolific partnership based on their shared music styles and experiences in the DJ circuit was born.
A bold move, but one which immediately began to pay off. The Audiofly name started to crop up regularly in the London scene and beyond via a series of edits, remixes and releases for underground imprints such as Fantastic House and Deleted. This initial hype led to Peace Division and DC10 resident Clive Henry to request an EP for the now legendary Low Pressings imprint.
Fairly quickly the pair’s groovy, melodic and undulating take on house music started to create a huge fan base, both in the press (DJ Magazine featured the duo on a special covermount CD), in clubs (Space Ibiza residency) and finally in production, with uber-imprints Get Physical, Mood Music, Kickboxer and Renaissance calling on their talents.
On top of that, we’ve also invited Martin Buttrich for an exclusive LIVE set.
Martin Buttrich is famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit. That technical prowess, combined with a fascination for music of every shape, has resulted in outstanding releases on influential labels such as Cocoon and Desolat. He’s also put his sonic thumbprint on many big-ticket artists, notably receiving a Grammy nomination for a Tori Amos remix in 2003.
Having his debut solo album Crash Test released on Desolat in early 2010, Martin Buttrich is taking his vision to the road, fusing wild imagination with solid musical architecture, cherry-picked inspiration with true perfection of his musical craft.
Labyrinth Artists Tofke & Tom Dazing (Monique Music – Circle Music) will complete the line-up. Don’t forget about Tom Dazing’s Gargoyle EP on Labyrinth Music, dropping in the online shops, February 12.
