Cocoon ended their 2011 madness with the message “Thank you for an amazing season. You’re the Cocoon Heroes. See you in 2012”. Well, promise makes debt, so we thought: “Time to invite Cocoon to Antwerp!”
First headliner of the evening is Raresh; definitely one of the fundamental figures in the up-to-date electronic movement. Born in Bacau, he moved to Bucharest as a teenager, becoming one of Sunrise’s residents. Here he shared the decks with Richie Hawtin, Magda, Steve Bug, Ricardo Villalobos, Josh Wink, Pascal FEOS, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Pier Bucci, Tobi Neumann, … . Raresh also launched the critically acclaimed [a:rpia:r] label together with Rhadoo and Pedro. With constant gigs all over the world, a strong label and forward releases Raresh enjoys tons of support and admiration of the electronic music scene.
Also headlining this promising Labyrinth Party is Daniel Stefanik, a brilliant producer and a passionate musician who never seizes to amaze. Over the last years he produced a lot of splendid records on diverse labels like (of course) Cocoon, Kann, Freude am Tanzen, Oh!Yeah! or Cargo Edition. Daniel gained a lot of respect with his dub-album “Reactitivty” (Statik Entertainment) as well as the countless remixes on renowned labels like Cécille, Liebe*Detail or Mobilee. He is currently working on his second album, which will be released on Cocoon Records in 2012. But it’s on stage Daniel really flourishes, leaving a long lasting impression on the crowd.
Next to Daniel and Raresh, we’ve got one of our Italian Family members joining us. Many lay claim to notions of originality and diversity in electronic music, but in the case of Alex Dolby it is truly justified. This DJ and producer has been steadily honing his craft and 2012 will see him step into the limelight with several exciting new projects coming to fruition. His remix of “The Depths” by SF FM on Octopus Recordings just recently got added in Sian’s new compilation and while we’re at it; Santos – Newyorkese (Alex Dolby Remix) isn’t doing that bad in the charts either.
Our loyal resident Tofke will complete this line-up, with his great musical taste (or how else would you explain his success in the Belgian nightlife for the past 20 years?).
VJ Turboslow will provide Café d’Anvers with some stunning visual work.
