Playing an unparalleled album from start to finish on a ditto sound system. That's the idea behind Classic Album Sundays, an international concept by Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy. Join us for an immersive, bi-monthly album listening experience.
// DAFT PUNK & HOMEWORK
To celebrate Amsterdam Dance Event we will listen to Homework, the debut studio album by the French electronic music duo Daft Punk. The album was released on 7 January 1997 and brought worldwide attention to French house music. Nowadays they are known as pioneers and innovators that constantly challenge the boundaries of house music.
Homework featured singles that had significant impact in French house and global dance music scenes, including the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play number-one singles "Da Funk" and "Around the World", the latter of which reached number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. Reviews varied from 'groundbreaking achievement' - because of the way they mixed house, techno, acid and punk music -, 'a feeling of discovery and exploration' to 'an almost certain classic'. It turned out to be a classic record indeed.
