Cadenza Showcase w/ Maayan Nidam & Andrea Oliva in Antwerpen (BE)

Labyrinth Productions’ new club season kicks off with a huge party! Join us at Café d’Anvers on September 7 for our first fall 2012 event: a Cadenza Showcase.

On this official showcase, we invite Maayan Nidam and Andrea Oliva.

Maayan began DJing and producing as “Miss Fitz”. She has released EPs on Raum musik, Freak n’ Chic, Contexterrior and Circus Company. In March 2009 Maayan decided to release her debut under her own name. The result was called “Night Long” (on Japanese label PowerShovel), an intimate album woven together out of recordings of Cuba’s best contemporary instrumentalists that later on that year was followed by an EP on the ever changing Perlon. The diversity of Mayaan’s sound is no doubt a result of an unusually global upbringing. Born in Tel Aviv, she lived in the Mediterranean city for most of her life before heading for New York, Argentina, Amsterdam and Berlin. This last one turned out to be exactly she was looking for: inspiration was everywhere. She soaked up everything, building up her studio and experimenting with different sounds and processes, gradually inching towards the dance floor. Like the best musicians, Maayan’s work is all about communication. No wonder she understand the dance floor so well.

Andrea Oliva started out as a fascinated youngster, saving up for his first mixer and turntables. By the time Andrea had built up a sizable collection of awful music, he knew how to DJ. At age 17, he was a resident DJ at three of Switzerland’s most famous clubs – Terminus, Pravda, and Pacha Zurich. Productions followed next, with Andrea keen to share his musical creations with the world. His debut release was in 2004 on Swedish imprint Joia Records. A few years later, as he became more prolific in the studio and began to forge a sound, Andrea released tracks on Viva Music, Saved Records, Be As One, Hideout, and Cadenza Lab. Today Andrea Oliva is a fully committed member of Luciano’s Cadenza family. Despite admitting that he is a DJ first and foremost, Andrea’s productions have continued to blossom into ever more impressive shapes: his recent low slung house track ‘Scene’ on Israel’s Be As One label combined elements of booty shaking house and rude vocals into an intoxicating urban groove. Both ‘Scene’ and ‘Click Off’ made it into the Beatport Top 10 Downloads chart. Due to his production successes, Andrea’s profile has recently soared – in both February and March 2012, he was the most charted artist on Resident Advisor – some of the biggest DJs in the business are playing and charting his music.

Labyrinth Artists Tofke and Ugur Yurt will support Maayan Nidam and Andrea Oliva on the line-up.
