- Bericht 1
Inspired by Traditional Afro Caribbean Music from Curaçao and European Dance, Kuenta i Tambu has created a brand new sound! They cleverly found a balance between electronic sound samples, singing and chanting and the infectious rhythms played by ritual tambú drums.
Some call it Global Bass, others prefer labeling it Tambutronic but one thing is for sure: it’s a wild and colorful explosion of energy, and always seems to set off some serious movements on the dancefloor!
The name Kuenta i Tambu translates to “Stories and Drums†from Papiamentu, which is the native language of the Dutch Caribbean islands Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire. The group is based in Amsterdam, came together in 2005 after a series of educational projects at schools and theaters to introduce the music and culture of Curaçao to children in the Netherlands.
In the early days band members were involved in establishing the sound and identity of KiT. Fast forward to the here and now KiT performances stand for high energy shows, with hypnotizing beats and dazzling percussive interplay between the band members.
KiT has been performing all over the world, with presentations at international venues and festivals such as the North Sea jazz Festival, New York City’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington as well as the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival in Aruba.
In addition the group has also been collaborating and producing remixes for various international artists and DJ’s such as: Gregor Salto, DJ Roog and Dutch Hip Hop sensation The Opposites.

The night will be opened by RBBP:
Producer Clifford Goilo aka 'Rusted Braces' asked writer
Tieka Masfar aka 'Bambi Peeks' to write something really
quick for a beat he cooked. Since Tieka also performs as
a poet, Goilo asked her to spit those lyrics. A team was
born. In 2011 Jennifer Muntslag aka 'JNM The Naked MC'
was asked for a feature on a song, where after they
decided to go long. The formation was complete
consisting of two female front MC’s with their own Master
chef of Arts behind the scene. The style RBBP takes on is
pop with Hip Hop or Electro influences.
They released their first song NANANA in February 2012,
their second song Grenade Girl in June 2012 and their
third song L!KE in May 2013.
